A rectangle is 50 feet by 60 feet. If both the width and the length are increased by the same amount, the area is increased by 1,200 square feet. Find the dimensions of the new rectangle. Which of the following equations represents the word problem? 50 + x + 60 + x = 1,310 (50 + x) (60 + x) = 4,200 (50 + x) (60 + x) + 1,200 = (50) (60)

    50 x 60 = 3000

    3000 + 1200 = 4200

    (50+x) (60+x) = 4200

If width = 50 and height = 60, then the product is 3000. Add 1200 and you will get 4200. When (50 + x) and (60 + x) are multiplied the product should be 4200. This is the correct choice.
