Josie has / 60 cubic centimeter of candle wax. She wants to make a hexagonal prism candle with a vase area of 21 square centimeters and height of 8 centimeters. She also wants to make a triangular prism candle with a height of 14 centimeters. Can the bass area of the triangular prism candle be 7 square centimeters

    If Josie only has 60 cm^3 of wax, she doesn't have enough for either model candle.

    The candle volume (V) is the product of base area (B) and height (h).

    V = Bh

    For the hex candle,

    ... V = (21 cm^2) * (8 cm) = 168 cm^3

    For the triangular candle,

    ... V = (7 cm^2) * (14 cm) = 98 cm^3

    Both candles are more than 60 cm^3.

    The triangular candle is less than 160 cm^3. If that is the volume of wax Josie has, then she could make one of those.
