The area of a region is sometimes a negative number

    The common meaning of area restricts it to nonnegative numbers.

    No matter if it's a regular polygon, circle, footprint, coffee stain on my book, or Florida, the area of any region can't be negative.

    It's the same as asking if a length can be negative.
