    N+1-3n=5+n+1-2

    Simplify it

    -2n+1 = n+4

    Add 2n to both sides

    1 = 3n+4

    Subtract 4 from both sides

    -3 = 3n

    Divide by 3

    n = - 1

    N + 1 - 3n = - 5 + n + 1 - 2

    Combine like terms:

    n - 3n = - 2n

    -2n + 1 = - 5 + n + 1 - 2

    Combine like terms:

    -5 + 1 - 2 = - 6

    -2n + 1 = n - 6

    Subtract 'n' to both sides:

    -3n + 1 = - 6

    Subtract 1 to both sides:

    -3n = - 7

    Divide - 3 to both sides:

    n = 2 1/3 or 7/3
