So you have to multiply 1/4 by 1/2. 1x1=1, which is your numerator. 2x4=8, which is your denominator. So you have 1/8 of the pie for each piece.

    So 1/4ths

the he cut each pie into 1/2

remember that dividing by 2 is the same as multiplying by 1/2

    1/2 times 1/4=1/8

each piece is 1/8 of the original pie
