No, they are not equal
pretend d = 5
7· (5-1) + 2 = 7 · (5+1)
7·4+2 = 7·6
28 + 2 = 42
30 = 42 doesnt make any sense
therefore, 7· (d-1) + 2 is not equal to 7· (d+1)

They are not equal to each other because
7 (d-1) + 2 = 7 (d+1)
7d-7+2 = 7d+7
7d-5 = 7d+7 which is not equal to one another
