Contestants in a game show are each given three pairs of numbers (for example, 2-3, 5-6, and 6-1). A person in the audience is randomly selected to roll two dice, one white and one red, where white symbolizes the first number in the pair and red the second number. What is the probability that each player has of winning?

    Outcomes of three pairs of numbers

    As there are 2 dices and total outcomes from one is 6

    So

    6 * 6 = 36 possible outcomes

    11,12,13,14,15,16

    21,22,23,24,25,26

    31,32,33,34,35,36

    41,42,43,44,45,46

    51,52,53,54,55,56

    61,62,63,64,65,66

    36 permutations are allowed to each contestant (23,56 and 61 for example)

    Therefore his probability of winning is 3/36 = 1/12
