The amount in a saving account increased from $250 to $255.

What was the percent of increase?

    255 - 250 = 5

    5 / 250 = 0.02 = 2% increase

    Well we know that $250 is 100% so lets jot that down. We now need to find out what 1% of that is. so dividing 250 by 100 would give you ... two dollars and fifty cense, or 2.5.

    add 2.5 with another 2.5 to get 5 buck. 5 bucks is 2% of your $250 savings and so if we do the math by adding, $255 would be a 2% increase
