you need to divide the numerator by the denominator and your quotient is the decimal.

U divide ... thats what " / " means ...
10/8 ... 10 divided by 8 = 1.25
3/4 ... 3 divided by 4 = 0.75
1/5 ... 1 divided by 5 = 0.2
