After spending $2150 for tables and $4050 for chairs, a convention center manager finds that the total is 9% more than he spent on tables and chairs last year. To the nearest dollar, find the amount that he spent last year.

    2150 + 4050 = total - 9%

    Therefore

    6200 * 9%

    558

    Therefore

    6200 - 558 = last year's price

    5642 = last year's price
