    To determine the height of the tower, we need to set up an equation which would relate the height of the tower and the building. To generate the equation, we need to understand the given values above. From the problem, we have two unknowns so we need to set up two equations. We do as follows:

    Let height of the tower be x

    height of the building y

    the height of a tower is three times that of a certain building: x = 3y

    the tower is 50 m taller than that building: x - y = 50

    We solve for the values of x and y;

    x = 75

    y = 25

    Therefore, the height of the tower is 75 m.
