How could you cut a 50-meter rope into three pieces to the same length and the third, 8 meters longer than the other two?

    This situation can be written as 2x + (x+8) = 50

    3x+8=50

    3x=42

    x=14

    To check, do 14 + 14 + (14+8) = 50, which is correct. The first two cuts are 14m and the third is 22m
