    A = the pennies that Al had initially

    Al gives (4/9) a pennies to Bev

    Bev gives (4/9) (4/9) a to Carl

    Carl gives (4/9) (4/9) (4/9) a to Dani

    Dani received (4/9) (4/9) (4/9) a = 960 pennies

    (4/9) (4/9) (4/9) a = 960

    (64/729) a = 960

    a = (960*729) / 64

    a = 10,935 pennies

    Al had 10,935 pennies initially.
