xy=120

and

x+y=-23

x=-23-y

(-23-y) (y) = 120

-23y-y^2=120

-y^2-23y=120

-y^2-23y-120=0

Multiply quadratic by - 1

y^2+23y+120=0

(y+15) (y+8) = 0

y=-15, - 8
