I think you mean "pi". Which is the Greek letter used to represent the irrational number you get when you divide a circle's circumference by it's diameter.
Pi is an irrational number because you cannot express in the fraction a/b where b is not equal to 0.
There have been many approximations of pi throughout history. Like 22/7 and 3.14.
