A circular table had the diameter of 48 inches. A carpender is remaking it into a square table. To the nearest tenth of an inch, what is the greatest possible side length of the square table? Explain.

    The original area of the table is πR²=π. (24) ² = 1809.55

    We would like to have an almost similar area with a square table

    Let a be the side of the square table, then its are = a²

    but a² = 1809.55 = = >a = √ (1809.55) = = > a = 42.538
