If 1.30 g of matter were converted to energy, how much energy would be formed?

    From Einsteins energy-mass equivalence,

    mass defect = 1.30 gm.

    Therefore, energy formed = mass defect x speed of light^2

    = 1.30 x (3 x 10^8) ^2 = 1.17 x 10^17 Joules
