The volume of an ideal gas in a container is 2.0 L. What will be the volume of the gas if the pressure on the container is doubled while the temperature is reduced from 400 K to 200 K? A. 0.5 L B. 2.0 L C. 4.0 L D. 8.0 L

    A. 0.5 L The idea gas law is PV = nRT where P = Pressure V = Volume n = amount of the substance R = Universal gas constant T = Absolute temperature. By doubling the pressure, you halve the volume. So if you started with 2.0 L, you now have 1.0 L. And by reducing the temperature from 400 K to 200 K, you halved the temperature. Which halves the volume. Therefore reducing the 1.0 L to 0.5 L.
