    The collision produces forces between the car and the bug. These forces depend on the momentums of the objects that collide. Momentum is the product of mass and velocity. The greater the mass the smaller the acceleration. That is the Newton's second law. Because the mass of the car is greater, it's momentum is also greater and the accelaration is smaller. so, the bigger momentum of the car explains the different damage.
