Part a a microwave oven operates at 2.90 ghz. what is the wavelength of the radiation produced by this appliance? express the wavelength numerically in nanometers.

    The parameter in GHz or Gigahertz is the frequency which is equal to 10⁹ of 1 Hz or s⁻¹. To determine its corresponding wavelength, we use the speed of electromagnetic waves. Its speed is the same with the speed of light which is equal to 3*10⁸ m/s. The solution is as follows:

    Speed = Frequency*Wavelength

    3*10⁸ m/s = (2.90*10⁹ Hz) (Wavelength)

    Wavelength = 0.1034 m or 1.034*10⁻¹⁰ nm
