What is the difference between speed and velocity

    Speed is the scalar quantity, whereas velocity is the vector quantity. It means that speed only has the magnitude, while the velocity has the magnitude as well as the direction. Examples are the following: force, momentum etc. are the vector quantities; temperature, energy etc. are the scalar quantities.
