Why can only igneous rock be formed directly from magma?

    Becuase sedimentary rocks are formed by compacting and cementing rock sediments (crumbs if you will) and metamorphic rocks are igneous rocks ad sedimentary rocks after heat and pressure have been applied. Igneous rocks form under the crust and as they rise cool and harden.
