To be a practical fuel, a substance
- - is cheap and plentiful
- - has a lot of energy in a small volume
But ...
- - it's stable ... It's easy to get the energy out of it when you want some, but a lump of it doesn't just decide to pour out all its energy unexpectedly.
(TNT is not a practical fuel.)
