You may have noticed that when you recorded the area under the force vs. distance curve you used units of N·m. When you calculated the change in potential energy (∆U) the units where joules (J). Both are a measure of the work. Is there a problem? Explain. Hint: ""Unit Analysis""

The area under distance axis for the Force Vs distance gives unit as Newton x metre.

    1 newton x metre = 1 kg m² / s²

Similarly, the unit Joule is represented as kg m² / s².

So, both the quantities are same as their units are same.
