    Initial distance, do = 3 km

    Distance, d1 = 1 km

    Final distance, d2 = 2 km

    Total distance travelled, D = sum of all the distances travelled

    = do + d1 + d2

    = 3 + 1 + 2

    = 6 km.

    Total distance travelled, D = 6 km.
