Briefly describe why these searches suggest that star-like (our planet-like) objects and black holes cannot account for all the dark matter in the halo of our galaxy.

    Some of the dark matter is made up of black holes and objects just a little too small to be stars (so they can't produce their own light). But all that reduces the overall amount of dark matter that must be out there to less than twenty percent. Scientist assume that most of the dark matter consists of tiny new particles than atoms that differ from anything that physicists have ever observed and examined. The very nature of most of the matter in the universe seems to be separate from what you and I are made of, as well as trees and bushes, the Earth and the Moon.
