    From the question

    Energy = 5J

    K = ?

    Using the above formula,

    We have

    5 = 1/2 x k x (0.5 x 0.5)

    5 = 1/2 x k x 0.25

    5 = 0.25k / 2

    Cross multiply

    5 x 2 = 0.25k

    10 = 0.25k

    Divide both sides by 0.25 to get k

    10/0.25 = 0.25k / 0.25

    40 = k

    K = 40N/m
