    a. 3.78 x 10^16 Joules

    b. 12 million years of energy

    Explanation:

    Your Energy Content. The power needed to operate your body is about 100 watts. Suppose your body could run on fusion power and could convert 0.7% of its mass into energy. How much energy would be available through fusion? For how long could your body then operate on fusion power?

    0.7% of the mass will be, assuming the mass of the body is 60kg

    0.7/100*60kg=0.42kg

    from the law of relativity

    E=mc^2

    c=the speed of light = 3 x 10^8 m/sec

    0.42kg x (3 x 10^8 m/sec) ^2 = 3.78 x 10^16 Joules

    power is the rate of doing work

    since when you work, you expend energy

    Power = 100 Watts = 100 Joules/sec = Energy/time

    b. time = 3.78 x 10^16 / (100) = 3.78 x 10^14 sec

    Now 1 day = 86400 sec, to find the number of days, we convert seconds to day

    3.78 x 10^14 sec / (86400 sec/day) =

    4.375 x 10^9 days =

    365 days make 1 year, therefore

    1.2 x 10^7 years!

    12 million years of energy
