A 2000 kg truck moving at 20 m/s runs into a concrete wall and stops. What is the magnitude the work done on the truck?

    The velocity of the truck, v = 20 m/s

    The work done by the truck on colliding with the concrete wall is, W = ?

    A body moving with a particular velocity has kinetic energy associated with it. The work done by the body to completely stop the moving body is equal to the kinetic energy.

    Therefore,

    K. E = E = 1/2 mv²

    Substituting the given values in the above equation,

    E = 0.5 x 2000 Kg x 20 m/s

    = 20,000 J
