What would happen if the earth stopped spinning on its axis?

There would be longer periods of day than night.

The pattern of day and night as we know it now would not occur.

Seasonal change would not occur.

Earth's period of revolution would be interrupted.

    Answer: the atmosphere would still be in motion with the Earth's original 1100 mile per hour rotation speed at the equator.
