An iron nail floats in mercury and sinks in water. Explain why?

    this is because mercury is more dense than iron nail, while water is less dense than the nail.

    This is because of difference in densities of iron nail, mercury and water. Iron nail is less dense than mercury so it floats on mercury while it is more dense than water so it sinks!
