Hydrophilic molecules attract the water the cell requires

    Explanation:

The components in a plasma membrane are; lipids (phospholipids and cholesterol), proteins and carbohydrates. The phospholipids are amphipathic to serving their role to mean they have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions. The hydrophilic region, the head, is water loving, hence attracted to watery fluids inside and outside the cell thus in the membrane bilayer, it is facing outwards.
