    a. - 2 m/s²

    b. - 200 N

    Explanation:

    2a.

    Given:

    v₀ = 10 m/s

    v = 0 m/s

    t = 5 s

    Find: a

    v = at + v₀

    (0 m/s) = a (5 s) + (10 m/s)

    a = - 2 m/s²

    2b.

    Newton's second law:

    ∑F = ma

    F = (100 kg) (-2 m/s²)

    F = - 200 N
