    The Kinetic energy of the goose = 56.071 J

    Explanation:

    Kinetic Energy: This can be defined as the energy of a body in motion.

    Mathematically, it can be expressed as

    Ek = 1/2mv² ... Equation 1.

    Where Ek = kinetic energy of the goose, m = mass of the goose, v = velocity of the goose.

    Given: m = 20.5 lb, and v = 7.8 miles/h.

    Conversion: (i) If 1 lb = 0.45 kg,

    then, 20.5 lb = 0.45 (20.5) = 9.225 kg.

    Also, (ii) If 1 mile/h = 0.447 m/s

    then, 7.8 miles/h = 0.447*7.8 = 3.4866 m/s

    Therefore, m = 9.225 kg, v = 3.4866 m/s

    Substituting into equation 1

    Ek = 1/2 (9.225) (3.4866) ²

    Ek = 4.6125*12.1564

    Ek = 56.071 J.

    Thus the Kinetic energy of the goose = 56.071 J
