    1) Its outer layer is made of hydrogen and helium gas.

    2) It contains faint rings that aren't visible from Earth.

    Explanation:

The main planets in our Solar system are mainly clasified in Terrestrial Planets and Jovian Planets.

The Terrestrial Planets are those that are closest to the Sun, for example: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Among their main characteristics is the fact that they have a metallic core and a silicate mantle that surrounds them. In addition, they have rocks, craters, mountains, valleys and volcanoes on its surface.

On the other hand, Jovian Planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) are farther from the Sun and according to their main characteristcis are classified as "gas and ice giants", because they are mainly composed of gas and volatile materials.

For example, Uranus has higher concentrations of methane (hence its bluish color) and some heavier elements such as oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. In addition, Uranu's outer layer has hydrogen ang helium gas.

The other thing is the fact that Uranus rings are not easily visible from Earth due to the long distance that separates them.

Greater period of revolution and major gaseous composition are the two pieces of data which indicates that Uranus resides in the outer layer of the solar system.

    Explanation:

What is meant by the outer layer is the region of the solar system beyond the asteroid belt. The planets beyond the asteroid belt are called gas giants because they are mainly composed of gases. Uranus also has the same feature.

It is composed of gases like hydrogen, helium and methane. A greater period of revolution is a feature of the planets beyond the asteroid belt. The period of revolution of Uranus is 84 years which is a high period. Thus the two factors, major gaseous composition and greater revolution period is a proof that Uranus belongs to the outer layer of the solar system.
