All of the cool fluid stays at the bottom of the cycle. It will begin to heat up, and when something heats, it becomes less dense. It will slowely rise and replace the fluid at the top. Then, it cools and falls back down. (it became more dense by cooling down). This pushes the fluid at the bottom up and the cycle repeats.
