The human ear canal is about 2.7 cm long and

can be regarded as a tube open at one end and

closed at the eardrum.

What is the fundamental frequency around

which we would expect hearing to be most

sensitive? Assume the speed of sound in air

to be 344 m/s.

Answer in units of kHz.

    λ = 4L

    Frequency is the rate per second of a vibration constituting a wave.

    Frequency is given as:

    Frequency = v/4λ

    Frequency = 1 * (344m/s) / 4 * (2.7cm)

    Convert centimetre to meter
