The postulate of Special Relativity was not violated because it was the dimensions of space which were expanding. The postulate applies to objects moving through space.

The postulates of special relativity are

1. Laws are physics are same all objects in inertial frame of reference and

2. Speed of light is a constant (in vacuum) for all observers, regardless of the motion of source or the observer.
