    F = GMm/r², where r = distance between center of gravity of two bodies exerting gravitational force.

    Which says, F ∝ 1/r²

    When you are flying in an plane high in air the distance between your center of gravity and that of the Earth is bit more than when you are in Earth surface. But due to r² factor, the little difference makes a sensible change which is why you feel slightly less weight when flying in a plane.
