The pressure inside a bottle of champagne is 5.99 atm higher than the air pressure outside. The neck of the bottle has an inner radius of 1.46 cm. What is the frictional force on the cork due to the neck of the bottle

    pressure = force:area force = pressure * area pressure = 5.99+1.0=6.99 (since atmospheric pressure is 1 atm) area = pi * radius squared (sorry I don't have symbols on my keyboard) A = pi * (1.46) ^2=6.697 cm^2 (rounded to 3 d. p) so F=6.99*6.697 = 46.81N
