Explanation:

A prism is a triangular shape object made of glass which has three flat surfaces that allows light to pass through it.

When light falls on one of the surface, The process of dispersion occurs.

As we know light is made up of seven colors, The light splits (disperse) itself into these colors when is passes through the prism.

The red color has the maximum wavelength hence it bend less than the other colors. Hence a pattern of different colors is formed which is termed as Rainbow.

As different color has different wavelength, there bending degree is also different makes a pattern of seven colors at the end.
