What would be the equivalent energy of 5eV in joules?

    The total charge you move is 5 times the charge of an electron, i. e., 8*10^-19 C. Work is again charge times potential (which is 1 V in this case). Again, 8*10^-19 J. General rule: Multiply the value you have in eV with 1.6*10^19 to get the energy in Joules.
