A 5 kg block is being pulled to the right by a rope tied to it. The block is accelerating at 2 m/s2 to the right. How much force is being applied? Use the formula F = m x a Select one:

    We don't know. There's certainly some friction canceling some of the force of the rope, but we don't know how much.

    All we know is that the NET force on the block ... the difference between the rope force and the friction force ... is (mass) x (acceleration) = 10 Newtons to the right.

    F = m x a

    f = 5kg x 2m²

    f = 10
