What is the change in internal energy if 50 J of heat are released from a system, and the system does 80 J of work on its surroundings?

    Change in the internal energy of the system = - 130 J

    Explanation:

    Heat released = Q=-50 j

    Work=80 J

    we use the first law of thermodynamics

    Q = ΔU + W

    -50 = ΔU + 80

    ΔU = -130 J
