How does increasing the frequency affect the wavelength? Be specific as to whether the wavelength increases or decreases. If you were in a boat and you were moving over water waves with smaller and smaller wavelengths, how would it feel?

    The speed of a wave is defined as

    v = λ (wavelength) * f (frequency)

    Assuming a constant speed for the wave

    λ (wavelength) = v/f (frequency)

    or,

    f (frequency) = v / λ (wavelength)

    This shows the inverse relation that exists between the frequency and the wavelength.

    As the frequency increases, the wavelength becomes smaller.

    Similarly, if we increase the wavelength, the frequency decreases.

    If we were on a boat over water waves with smaller and smaller wavelengths, the boat would be rocking from side side, as we would feel the effects of the rapidly increasing waves.
