A force F making an angle with the horizontal is acting on an object resting on the table. Which statement is true for the motion of sliding the object on the table?

    The motion should remain along the horizontal. This assumes the table is solid and will continue to be. One component vector would be down to the table and the other parallel to the horizontal. This is the component of the force that is causing the acceleration.
