    Forensic lamp produces light at a specific wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum (usually ultraviolet, blue or green).

    Certain substances (usually biological based like saliva, semen, etc.) will glow under the forensic lamp in a phenomenon known as 'fluorescence'. Fluorescence occurs when a molecule absorbs light of a particular wavelength and then emits a different coloured light back.
