    A. Longitudinal wave

    Explanation:

Sound is a mechanical wave and in mechanical wave its a longitudinal wave. It is a longitudinal wave because the particles of the wave move along the direction of propagation of wave instead of being perpendicular to it like in transverse wave. It can also be said that the displacement of the medium is in the direction of propagation if the wave.
