Stretching is important prior to physical activity and a few hours after/the next day after. What does stretching accomplish which is important in preventing some injuries?

Extends muscles and limbs to their full extent.

Works those muscles now so I can take it easy during my activities and not work as long/as hard.

Creates pain now instead of later.

Extends muscles and limbs to their full extent providing increased blood flow and flexibility to prepare for physical activity.
