    They are both nuclear reactions but they are different in the sense that Nuclear fusion is the combining of two light atomic nuclei to form a heavier atomic nucleus alongside the release of a large amount of energy while Nuclear fission is the splitting of a heavy nucleus to form two lighter atomic nuclei.

    They are exact opposites of each other.
